What affiliate links are
Some links on Groundwork Coffee are affiliate links. That means if you click one and buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission — usually a few percent of the sale. It costs you nothing extra; the price you pay is exactly the same as if you'd gone to the store directly.
How we use them
We participate in affiliate programs including Amazon Associates and programs run through networks like ShareASale, CJ Affiliate, and Impact.com, which cover specialty coffee roasters and gear brands. When we recommend a grinder, dripper, kettle, scale, or bag of beans, the link may be an affiliate link. We flag this at the top of every article that contains them, so you always know before you click.
Display ads
You may also see display advertisements on this site, served through an ad network (such as Mediavine Journey). These ads are how free, in-depth brewing guides stay free. We don't control the specific ads shown, and an ad appearing next to an article is not our endorsement of that product.
Sponsorships and digital products
Occasionally we publish sponsored content with coffee roasters or gear brands. Sponsored posts are always clearly labeled as sponsored, and sponsors never get to edit our conclusions. We also sell our own digital products (brew recipe collections and grind-size cheat sheets), which are marked as our own products wherever they're mentioned.
Why you can still trust the recommendations
Three rules we don't break:
- We only recommend gear we've actually brewed with. If we haven't used it in a real kitchen, we don't review it.
- Commissions never decide winners. If the best pick pays a lower commission — or no commission at all — it still wins. We've said "don't buy the expensive one" in articles where the expensive one would have paid us more.
- Budget picks get the same respect as premium ones. A $40 gooseneck that pours well is a legitimate recommendation here, not a stepping stone to an upsell.
Trust is the entire business. A reader who buys the wrong grinder because we chased a commission never comes back — and never clicks another link. Honesty pays better, long-term, than any single affiliate payout.
